Discharge readiness and its influencing factors among pregnant women with Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy

Abstract: Objective: To investigate the current status and influencing factors of hospital discharge readiness among pregnant women with Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy (HDP). Methods: From January to May 2021, a convenience sampling method was used to select 268 pregnant women with HDP from a tertiary grade A maternity hospital in Nanjing. The general information questionnaire, Readiness for Hospital Discharge Study-New Mother Form, Quality of Discharge Teaching Scale New Mother Form, Family APGAR Index and Perceived Social Support Scale were performed to collected data. Results: The score of the discharge readiness in pregnant women with HDP was (112.16±24.58) points. The type of gestational hypertension, maternal and infant status at discharge, quality of discharge guidance, family care index, and perception of social support were the most important factors in gestational hypertension. The influencing factors of maternal discharge readiness accounted for 61.2% of the total variance. Conclusion: The discharge readiness of pregnant women with HDP is at a moderate level. Medical staff should focus on pre-eclampsia and pregnant women with HDP who are separated from their infants at discharge, and provide them with effective discharge guidance and multiple support systems to improve their readiness for discharge. Conclusion: The discharge readiness of pregnant women with hypertensive disorders is at a moderate level. Medical staff should focus on preeclampsia and women with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy who are separated from their mothers and infants at discharge, and provide them with effective discharge guidance and multiple support systems. to improve their readiness for discharge.
