Abstract: Objective: To explore the true experience in the process of bowel preparation for patients undergoing colonoscopy in order to provide scientific evidence for the future specific nursing measures. Methods: Guided by the phenomenological research method, we performed in-depth interviews and analyzed their experience to 20 patients who underwent colonoscopy. Results: Three themes were formed: the complex psychological state; difficulties obtaining specialized information guidance; desiring for comfort and support from others. Conclusion: In the future clinical work, we should follow patient center, find the deficiency of clinical work in advance and strive to make a targeted solution. Ultimately, we have to reduce the discomfort patients might experience in order to improve the overall satisfaction rates.
