Abstract: Objective: To explore the experience of the elderly living in medical-nursing combined pension institutions to provide a reference for nursing quality improvements. Methods: Four medical-nursing combined pension institutions were selected and 21 residents participated semi-structured in-depth interviews. The transcribed interviews were analyzed using meaning categorizing. Results: Tangibility, reliability, assurance, empathy, continuity and fairness were extracted from the experience. Conclusion: The experience of the olderly for medical care needs to be further mined, and enhancing the comfort of all the elderly should be the goal of institution management. The experience survey of the edlerly is helpful in inspecting what they actually focus on, and thus may help managers for quality improvement in medical-nursing combined pension institutions.
