Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the effects of nursing students pre-internship training with the model of cooperation between hospitals and university. Methods: Totally 114 students were collected, then based on class unit, they were randomized into the experimental group and the control group with 57 students each. The experimental group accepted pre-internship training with the model of cooperation between hospitals and university which include four steps observations, skill training, scenarios, and practicals; and the control group accepted traditional pre-internship training. The two groups were evaluated by Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) and the score of self-directed learning ability. Besides, the experimental group had a questionnaire survey of cognitive evaluation for the new "four steps" preinternship training. Results: There were significant differences on the score of self-directed learning ability and the OSCE grade between the two groups. 78.9% of the students in the experimental group hoped that cooperation between hospitals and university in pre-internship training would be continued. Conclusion: Cooperation between hospitals and university in pre-internship training is worthy of being popularized and applied.
