Abstract: Objective: To understand the nursing management of common complications (including pressure ulcer,Deep vein Thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary infection and urinary tract infection) in bed ridden patients in China. Methods:A semi-structured interviews were conducted with 25 nursing managers from different hospitals. The data were collected and analyzed. Results: Differences existed in the importance of different complications. For DVT, pulmonary infection and urinary tract infection, standard nursing management system has not been established. The nursing management in primary and secondary hospitals is still relatively weak. Conclusion: It is urgently needed to establish standard nursing management system of common complication in bed ridden patients for all level of hospitals.
