Abstract: Objective: The study was aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of safe transport procedure management (STPM) for critically ill patients within hospital. Methods: The STPM was conducted for a total of 553 critically ill patients in our hospital from Oct. 2014 to Apr. 2015. We retrospectively reviewed the data and evaluate its effectiveness. Results: The average time spent on safe transport was 25.1±9.7 minutes for per critical ill patient. There were no events as patients' death,cardiac arrest, respiratory shock, and dropping down from bed occurred during the process of transport. Conclusion: The STPM includes a standard flow sheet, a standard equipment of transshipment goods and drugs, effective informed consent,perfect transfer system, qualification requirement for the transport staff, multi-disciplinary participation in practice and training, and professional management, which is an important guarantee for transporting critically ill patients within hospital.
