Abstract: Objective: To identify the level and influencing factors of self-management of patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in the community, and to provide information for the community care professionals to make interventions to improve the self-management level of patients with COPD. Methods: A total of 260 patients with COPD in community were investigated with Self-management Scale (SMS) for Chinese patients with COPD. Results: The mean score of SMS of patients with COPD in community was 156.92±36.47. Results from multiple regression analysis showed that levels of education, times of hospitalization because of COPD last year, and smoking were the influencing factors of self-management.Conclusion: The level of self-management of COPD was low in the community. The level of education, times of hospitalization because of COPD last year, and smoking were the influencing factors of self-management of patients with COPD in the community.
