Abstract: Self-stigma of mental illness is the phenomenon that patients with mental illness internalize the negative public attitude to form self-prejudice and self-discrimination, which has become a hot research topic in sociology and psychology. This paper reviewed the researches in the field of self-stigma,and discussed the theory construction, measurement tools, relevant factors and intervention strategies of self-stigma among people with mental illness. Furthermore, more local studies and crosscultural researches in this field should be implemented in the future.
