Abstract: Objective: To describe the current status and influencing factors of workplace violence among outpatient nurses in tertiary general hospitals. Methods: Totally 204 nurses in outpatient department from 8 tertiary general hospitals in Zhejiang province were recruited and investigated by the Modified Version of Hospital Workplace Violence Questionnaire. Results: The overall incidence rate of workplace violence among 204 participants was 74.4% in the past year. Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that work position, from one-child family, positive coping style and the effective prevention measures for violence that hospital take entered the regression model. Conclusions: The incidence rate of workplace violence among outpatient nurses was high. The influencing factors of workplace violence among outpatient nurses were work position, from one-child family, positive coping style and the effective prevention measures for violence that hospital take. In the future we should conduct the related intervention research to decrease the incidence rate of workplace violence among outpatient nurses.
