Abstract: Objective: To describe the care demands among family caregivers of community-dwelling patients with dementia,so as to provide references to offer targeted support for the family caregivers. Methods: Twenty family caregivers of dementia patients were recruited using purposive sampling method in Beijing urban areas. Data were collected by in-depth interview and analyzed using Colaizzi content analysis method. Results: Two themes were extracted including alternative care such as direct care service, respite care, institutional care and professional support service such as professional knowledge and skills guidance, caregivers platform, rehabilitation services for dementia patients and psychological support for caregivers. Conclusion: Alternative care and professional support are the important aspects of family caregivers' care demands. We should provide targeted supportive services for family caregivers of dementia patients, so as to reduce caregiver burden and improve the quality of care.
