Abstract: Through visiting Pittsburgh medical center, the authors had a general understanding of US nursing practice and would like to share their knowledge with Chinese nurses from three aspects. The first was US nursing administration, including general situation of local hospitals, nurses' qualification, allocation and work time, nursing information management, nursing safety and motivation. The second was clinical nursing, including nurses' professional qualities, nursing assessment, visiting rules, infection prevention and control, use of items and team work. The third one was humanistic services. These may provide references for the nursing development in our country.
