Abstract: Objective: To translate the Nurses' Attitudes towards Futile Treatment Scale (NAFTS) into Chinese, and to test its reliability and validity, and to provide a tool for the assessment of nurses' attitude towards futile treatment in China. Methods: The Chinese version of the NAFTS was developed by translation, back translation and cultural debugging based on the Brislin translation model. In September 2023, a convenience sample of 420 nurses in ICU and oncology departments from six tertiary grade A hospitals in Zhejiang province were selected to test the reliability and validity of the scale. Results: The Chinese version of NAFTS were with 4 dimensions and 18 items. The Cronbach's α was 0.901 and the re-test reliability was 0.805, the correlations of the scores between each item and the total scale were ranged from 0.451 to 0.714 (P<0.05), the I-CVI ranged from 0.830 to 1.000, the S-CVI/UA was 0.833, and the S-CVI/Ave was 0.972. Four common factors were extracted from exploratory factor analysis, and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 66.195%. The results of confirmatory factor analysis showed that the model fitted well. Conclusion: The Chinese version of NAFTS has good reliability and validity, and it can be used as an effective tool to evaluate the nurses' attitudes towards futile treatment in China.
