Junior undergraduate nursing students' professional identity towards the social practice curriculum focused on nursing ideological and political education

Abstract: Objective: To explore the effects of social practice curriculum focused on nursing ideological and political education in junior undergraduates. Methods: Convenience sampling was used and there were 52 junior undergraduate nursing students joined this curriculum according to their own willingness. The questionnaire of college students' speciality identity was used to compare their professional identity between the curriculum group and non- curriculum group before and after the curriculum. Results: There was no significant difference in professional identity between the curriculum group and non- curriculum group at baseline (P>0.05). The curriculum group showed greater improvement in professional identity than the non- curriculum group after this program, which had statistical significance (P<0.05). Conclusion: This new developed social practice curriculum focused on nursing ideological and political education could bring junior undergraduates to get familiar to the clinical settings and nurses and could improve their professional identity.
