Abstract: Objective: To translate the European Organization for Research and Treatment for Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-spiritual well-being 32 (EORTC QLQ-SWB32) into Chinese, and to assess its reliability and validity. Methods: The EORTC QLQ-SWB32 was translated strictly by the steps of cross-cultural adjustment to form the Chinese version of EORTC QLQ-SWB27 scale. A total of 270 patients with advanced cancer meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria in a tertiary hospital in Shenyang were recruited by convenience sampling and investigated using the Chinese version of EORTC QLQ-SWB27. Results: The Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the Chinese version of EORTC QLQ-SWB27 scale was 0.792, and it was 0.606 to 0.862 for each sub-dimensions. Its test-retest reliability was 0.886; I-CVI was 0.83-1 and S-CVI was 0.97.Four factors with characteristic root >1 were extracted by principal component analysis, and the cumulative contribution rate was 51.7%. Conclusion: The Chinese version of EORTC QLQ-SWB27 scale has good reliability and validity, and can be used as a instrument to measure spiritual health of patients with advanced cancer in the context of Chinese culture.
