Abstract: Objective: The purpose of this qualitative study was to investigate the factors that influence pain assessment of pediatric nurses for hospitalized children. Methods: In this qualitative descriptive study, purposive sampling method was used to select a total of 15 pediatric nurses to conduct a semi-structured, face-to-face, in-depth interviews. The interview guide drew upon 14 domains from the Theoretical Domains Framework. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the qualitative data. After familiarizing with the data, the next steps were to generate initial codes, search for themes, review themes, define and name themes, and finally produce reports. During this process, ongoing review, modification and refinement were required for codes and themes. Results: Three themes (individual knowledge and skills, the practice process in clinical contexts, and perceptions of the meaning and value of work) and ten sub-themes were identified. Conclusion: Multiple factors impact pediatric nurses during the pain assessment process. To promote the effectiveness of children's pain management, essential measures include regular training, integration of theories and practices, fostering teamwork and communication, and overall enhancement of awareness. Furthermore, it is imperative to empower evidence-based practice while standardizing behavior.
