Abstract: Objective: To investigate the barriers of the weight management of re-pregnant women with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) and overweight pre-conception, and to provide references for improving the weight management of this population. Methods: Phenomenological research method in qualitative research was used to collect the data. From June to July 2021, re-pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus in the Obstetrics Department of a hospital of Guilin were selected, semi-structured interviews were conducted, and Colaizzi 7-step analysis method was used to analyze the data. Results: Three themes were extracted: cognitive factors (inadequate awareness of the relationship between body weight and fetal growth and development, insufficient awareness of insulin in pregnant women who use insulin), low self-efficacy in GDM weight management, social factors (lack of family support, working time constraints,and non-professional experiences). Conclusion: It's necessary to correct the misconceptions of re-pregnant women with gestational diabetes and overweight before pregnancy at the early stage, improve their level of self-efficacy, and make full use of family support to improve their compliance with weight management, to improve the clinical outcomes.
