Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the effects of nursing intervention based on the concept of healing environment on anxiety, fear, and puncture compliance of outpatient children undergoing venous blood collection. Methods: This was a historical control study with children who underwent outpatient venous blood collection in a tertiary grade A children's hospital in Zhengzhou, Henan Province being divided into the control group (admitted from May 1 to June 1, 2022) (n=63) and the intervention group (admitted from July 1 to August 1, 2022) (n=65). Routine blood collection was applied in the control group, while nursing intervention based on the concept of healing environment was adopted in the intervention group. Anxiety, fear, puncture compliance and other indicators were compared between the two groups before and after blood collection. Results: The score of anxiety (t=5.212, P<0.05) and incidence of fear in the intervention group (χ2=7.459, P<0.05) were significantly lower than those in the control group, while the puncture compliance (Z=7.441, P<0.05) and success rate (χ2=4.863, P<0.05) were found higher in the intervention group. Conclusion: Nursing intervention based on the concept of healing environment can alleviate the anxiety and fear of outpatient children undergoing venous blood collection and improve their puncture compliance to ensure more successful puncture.
