Construction of a self-management support intensive phase intervention programs for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients

Abstract: Objective: To construct a self-management support intensive phase intervention programs for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients, and to provide a reference for health management and education of diabetes. Methods: Based on the literature review, the previous studies conducted by the project team and social cognitive theory, a preliminary self-management support intensive phase intervention programs for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients was developed. A total of 13 experts were invited to participate in a two-round Delphi consultation to finalize the program. Results: The effective recovery rate of the two Delphi expert consultations were 100.0% and 92.9%, respectively, with the authority coefficient being 0.882 and 0.885, the Kendall coordination coefficients being 0.149 and 0.175 (P<0.05) and the coefficient of variation ranging from 0.09 to 0.23 and 0 to 0.15, respectively. The final intervention program consisted of 21 items of intervention contents concerning 3 intervention time points (the third, sixth and ninth month of structured education), 3 themes including behavior reinforcement, behavior maintenance, and emotion management, 3 general goals and 9 sub-goals for intervention. Conclusion: The diabetes self-management support intensive phase intervention programs constructed in this study is necessary, reasonable, reliable, authoritative and scientific, which can provide a reference for self-management support for diabetes patients and is of great significance for guiding clinical nursing work.
