Construction of the informatics competency measurement system for newly recruited nurses

Abstract: Objective: To construct an informatics competency measurement system for newly recruited nurses. Methods: Literature review and group discussion were adopted to form the item pool based on the Technology Informatics Guiding Educational Reform (TIGER) initiative. Later the informatics competency measurement system was established after 2 rounds of expert consultation. Results: The new information competency measurement system for newly recruited nurses including 3 first-level indicators, 13 second-level indicators, and 58 third-level indicators was set up after two rounds of expert consultation with the coefficient variation of all indicators ranging from 0 to 0.18 and the coordination coefficient W being 0.23 (χ2 = 441.20, P<0.001). Conclusion: The informatics competency measurement system for newly recruited nurses built in the study proves to be scientific and practical, which can provide references for evaluation and training of informatics competency for new nurses.
