Abstract: A series of drug withdrawal symptoms usually appear in newborns who are exposed to opioids before birth, which is called Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS). In recent years, the incidence rate of NAS has increased significantly. The new nursing mode focusing on non-pharmacological intervention and ward management has become more and more important in the treatment of neonatal abstinence, which can significantly shorten the length of hospital stay and reduce the use of drugs. This review will explore the management of NAS, review its development history, scoring tools, different management methods, and summarize suggestions to improving neonatal care for NAS.

Key words: Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome; neonatal withdrawal syndrome; nursing management
