Abstract

Abstract: Objective: To develop a scale to assess the core competence of master prepared nurses and to test the reliability and validity of the scale. Methods: The initial scale was formulated by literature review and Delphi expert consultation. Totally 210 graduates of Master of Nursing Specialists were selected by purposive sampling to examine the reliability and validity of the scale. Results: The scale consisted of 5 dimensions and 48 items. The exploratory factor analysis showed the cumulative contribution rate was 71.208%. The content validity of the scale was 0.986, the Cronbach's α coefficient was 0.977, and the split-half reliability was 0.878. Conclusion: The Core Competence Scale has been suggested to be reliable and valid for assessing core competence of graduates of Master of Nursing Specialists.
