Abstract: Sleep disturbance is a common problem among ICU patients, which is characterized by abnormal sleep architecture, sleep fragmentation, lack of rhythm and poor subjective sleep quality. Sleep disturbance has many adverse impacts on ICU patients' physiology, psychology and prognosis, and it has severely affected the rehabilitation of patients. The research progress on the assessment methods and intervention measures of ICU patients’ sleep are reviewed in this article. This review provides clinical medical staffs with a comprehensive understanding about sleep disturbance in ICU patients so as to provide better intervention strategies for ICU patients.
