Abstract: Objective: To construct and preliminarily implement an information system for the whole-process cancer pain management. Methods: Based on the contents of guidelines, consensus and needs of hospital cancer pain management, we developed an information system which was dedicated to the whole-process management of patients with cancer pain. Data on the whole-process cancer pain management based on the information system from June to November 2020 was reviewed and analyzed. Results: Ninety-three patients received a 4-week follow-up intervention by using the information system. The basic pain intensity indicated by the score of Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) decreased from 4(2, 5) in first week to 2(0, 3) in the fifth week (P<0.05); the score of the pain management satisfactory increased from 7.08±2.31 in the first week to 8.60±1.87 in the fifth week (P<0.05). Conclusion: The information system for cancer pain management provides an information path for the implementation of inpatient-outpatient-home whole-process management model for patients with cancer pain. It helps to understand the current situation and changes of pain management outcomes of patients with cancer pain in real time. It also provides scientific basis for the evaluation and improvement of cancer pain management quality in hospitals.
